Great for kids--the hikes are easy and there's a swimming hole with life guards. Great for a quick hike and some nature time within close distance of Fargo-Moorhead. Look for special events like bird watching and skiing.

An unexpected pro is that this swimming pond is wheelchair accessible! Not only is there accessible parking and an accessible bathroom - the actual pond is accessible. There is a wheelchair ramp for entry into the pond. The beach portion (not the ramp) is sand but also offers a much easier entry/slower & smoother increase in depth than many of the local lakes.

It's also a good park for stargazing or star photography, the parking lot is only a couple hundred feet from an open prairie, if you're lucky you'll catch a freight train crossing a couple miles away in the picture.

The swimming pond is really nice, filtered and chlorinated. Usually not to busy M-Thur. Busier days are Fri-Sun. It's open from Jun to Aug, but they recently changed their times to 11-6:50 which was a big bummer. They also have trails and a stream you walk around and hang out. Lots of wildlife and natural beauty.

We really loved this park. We took our niece (6) and nephew (4) for an afternoon of swimming. The 4 start instead of 5 it's because while the park was very nice, it was also pretty crowded. It differs from other lakes in the area as it is a small, man-made swimming pond. There is also a lifeguard on duty. The kids had a blast playing with their water guns, swimming around while "looking for sea creatures," and building sand castles all afternoon.

Awesome prairie views. And the river is with you throughout the whole trail.

This is a lovely place for a walk. Lots of wildflowers visible in June and beyond. Nice trails to walk on. I have been here a couple of times and enjoyed it very much both times.

There are plenty of trees for shade, picnic tables, and grills around the pond. The parking lot was pretty full the day we visited, but there was ample parking.

A couple of different possible routes you can take, and each are a little different so it could be fun to get lost here for a couple of hours.
